Goodbye Summer...hello Autumn

*sniff*

It's a sad post from me today, as it's that time again -  time to bid farewell to Summer. This feels even sadder than most years, for Sydney had the coldest summer on record and with only 3 days left it's too late for it to kick in now.

Still the end of Summer signals a new season, the one my dear friend Deanna calls the "season of new boots" so to celebrate this, the theme for our latest challenge at The Squirrel and The Fox is

AUTUMN

The DT have outdone themselves with their latest creations - all made with images from our newest sponsor Bugaboo Stamps. Bugaboo have kindly offered our winner 7 digi stamps of their choice. I am so in love with their fabulous digis, as I am sure you will be too.

For my creation I used Ava Latte:

Look closely wonderful followers - there's stitching!!! Yes, I wrangled the new sewing machine into submission and managed to sew a zig zag stitch relatively straight around one piece of DP and cardstock. I won't tell you how many pieces of paper died in the making of that one simple rectangle, I am sure the People for the Ethical Treatment of Paper (PETP) would be on to me in a heartbeat.

The image was coloured with copics and the edges distressed with Tim Holtz distress ink. The once white lace flower was also sponged with distress ink and the button was hand-sewn to it. Is there simply no end to my talents I hear you ask? Please rest assured I had to ask my husband how to sew on the button. I am not exaggerating when I say sewing and I have been estranged for over 20 years. The lace was from my stash, and thankfully after sweating over the various sewing and stitching, I could fall back on my old friend doublesided tape to stick it on!

I have also entered this card into the following challenges:

Do You Stack Up? - distress
Southern Girls - So distressed
The Stamping Boutique - Stitching
Make It Monday - Anything Goes
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards - Drink Up
Totally Gorjuss - Yummy

Until next time keep well and happy!
Tracey

LOL! You mean you didn't do a gathered stitch for the lace?! I am so disappointed... I come from a sewing family. My Mom & sister both quilt. This gene somehow escaped me! I do not show my mother any of my sewing attempts!! Having said that, I think you did a fabulous job sewing and I promise not to report you to PETP!! Love all of the distressing too!
